2022 Liatiko Rosé from Iliana Malihin is a testament to Crete's rich winemaking heritage and the resilience of its people. Crafted from the indigenous Liatiko grape, this rosé hails from the village of Melampes in Rethymno, Crete. Iliana Malihin, a dedicated winemaker, established her winery in 2019 with a mission to revive ancient, ungrafted vineyards and promote organic farming practices . (Iliana Malihin makes wines deeply rooted in the history and terroir of Rethymnon - The Greek Foundation, Wine Company. Iliana Malihin Liatiko ...)

The 2022 vintage was produced with minimal intervention: 80% of the wine underwent a 5-hour skin contact, while the remaining 20% was left for two days. Fermentation occurred with indigenous yeasts at 22°C, and the wine matured on its lees for 8 months in stainless steel tanks. This process imparts a wine with a medium body, lightly oaked, and an alcohol content of 14% . (Iliana Malihin – VAN DE GRIEKEN, Iliana Malíhin, Liatiko Rosé, Rethymno, Crete, Greece 2022)

Tasting notes reveal a bouquet of red berries and grapefruit, offering a refreshing and gastronomic experience. The finish is marked by mild tannins and a zesty grapefruit tartness, balancing the fruit's sweetness . (Iliana Malíhin Liatiko Rosé 2022 – Shrine to the Vine, Malihin Λιάτικο Ροζέ - Mr. Vertigo)

This rosé pairs beautifully with Mediterranean dishes such as stuffed pasta, chicken with okra, and green beans. Its versatility makes it an excellent choice for various culinary delights. (Malihin Λιάτικο Ροζέ - Mr. Vertigo)
