The 2023 Wild Ferment Pinot Noir from Burn Valley Vineyard is an exciting gem from Norfolk’s north coast. Nestled near North Creake, just a few miles from the sea, Burn Valley is run by sisters Laura and Sam Holloway, who’ve been quietly putting Norfolk on the fine wine map. Their vineyard sits on flinty, chalky soils—ideal for cool-climate viticulture—while the coastal breezes help maintain freshness and slow ripening.
The 2023 vintage brought a warm, dry summer with cool nights, perfect for coaxing elegance and complexity from Pinot Noir. Fermented with wild yeasts and bottled unfiltered, this wine is pure, unpolished charm. Expect bright raspberry and redcurrant notes, hints of crushed herbs, and a subtle earthy savouriness. It’s juicy and delicate, with just enough structure to keep it grounded.
Pair it with roast guinea fowl, grilled salmon, or a beetroot tart—something that complements its light, lively character and rustic finesse.
