The 2009 Chateau Musar Red comes from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, where high-altitude vineyards sit around 1,000 metres above sea level on gravelly, limestone soils that benefit from warm days and cool nights. Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar and now run by the Hochar family, Chateau Musar is Lebanon’s most iconic winery. The 2009 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan shows aromas of black cherry, dried fruits, spice and earthy notes, with complex layers and silky tannins developed through long ageing. Rich yet balanced, it pairs beautifully with slow-braised lamb, game dishes, roasted aubergine or Middle Eastern spiced meats.
