Crafted by American-born Alan Manley, Margherita Otto’s “M8” is a superb traditional Barolo blending grapes from Monforte d’Alba, Castiglione Falletto, and Serralunga. The vineyards, rich in limestone and clay, sit in the heart of Piedmont’s famed Langhe hills, where Nebbiolo thrives. The 2018 vintage was elegant and cool, producing wines with finesse over brute power. Fermented as a single blend and aged in large Slavonian oak casks, “M8” delivers lifted aromas of cherry, rose petal, mint, and a touch of forest floor. On the palate, it’s juicy yet structured, with bright acidity and refined tannins—perfect for ageing 10–20 years. With only a few thousand bottles made annually, this is a serious artisanal gem. Pair it with braised beef, truffle risotto, or aged cheeses for a classic Piedmontese experience. A Barolo for those who love tradition, harmony, and a story in every sip.
