The 2022 Muscadet ‘Amphibolite’ by Jo Landron is a zesty, mineral-driven white from the windswept vineyards of the Loire Valley, specifically the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation near Nantes. Grown on ancient amphibolite rock soils (hence the name), this wine beautifully reflects its maritime terroir — think sea spray, crushed shells and wet stone. Jo Landron, a biodynamic pioneer since the 1990s, cultivates 48 hectares organically, with low yields and meticulous care. The 2022 vintage was warm but balanced, producing wines with ripeness and finesse.
On the palate, ‘Amphibolite’ is light-bodied, bone-dry and bursting with lime, green apple, and a hint of saline freshness. It’s a classic example of Melon de Bourgogne with razor-sharp clarity and vibrant acidity.
Brilliant with oysters, mussels, or anything that once lived in a shell. Or try it with goat’s cheese and a crisp salad for a proper French lunch à la campagne.
