The 2023 vintage of C’est le Printemps from Domaine Dard & Ribo truly captures the light-hearted spirit of spring in the northern Rhône. Hailing from the appellation Crozes‑Hermitage — a region on the left bank of the Rhône with terrain of granitic slopes and river-pebble terraces — this 100 % Syrah comes from old vines planted (in parcels from 1970 and 1996) in Mercurol/Mercurol-La Grâce. Dard & Ribo, founded in 1983 by René-Jean Dard and François Ribo, are pioneers of organic, low-intervention winemaking and hold just 7.5 ha or so of vineyard across several crus.
In this bright 2023 edition you’ll pick up juicy red-berry aromas—raspberry, cherry—alongside violet florals and a touch of pepper spice. On the palate it’s fresh, light in alcohol (around 11.5 %), with sleek tannins and a saline-grained finish that says “drink now and smile”.
Food-wise: serve slightly chilled (say 14-16 °C) and pair with charcuterie boards, grilled chicken with herbs, spring vegetables, or even lighter-style lamb. Its liveliness also makes it a great aperitif wine with friends.
