The 2023 Vermentino from Mas Costeplane is a shining example of southern French winemaking with a biodynamic twist. Located in the foothills of the Cévennes Mountains in Languedoc-Roussillon, the estate spans 30 hectares of organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards. Certified organic since 1989 and biodynamic since 2011, Mas Costeplane is managed by Loïc Manchec, who continues the estate’s commitment to low-intervention, terroir-driven wines. The vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils on a windswept plateau surrounded by wild garrigue and oak, benefiting from the cooling influence of mountain air and big day-night temperature shifts.
The 2023 vintage is fresh, textural and incredibly moreish. Vermentino here offers notes of citrus zest, white peach, wild herbs and a subtle floral lift. Lees ageing adds a creamy texture, balancing the wine’s vibrant acidity and clean, mineral finish. It’s dry, zesty, and wonderfully expressive.
Perfect with grilled seafood, goat’s cheese, or herb-roasted chicken, this is a classy summer sipper best served chilled around 8–10°C. It’s a wine that offers both purity and personality in equal measure.
