Australian winemaker Dave Fletcher was hooked on Nebbiolo the first time he smelt it. Making Nebbiolo in The Blue Pyrenees, Victoria wasn’t enough. He was head winemaker at legendary Pimonte producer Ceretto. This is his own wine which he makes in a converted train station he converted. The Starderi cru produces wines with structure and a dense core thanks to the loamy- clay soil. Dave producers effortlessly approachable and enjoyable wines with fine elegant notes and rich plum notes. For me these are amongst the most exciting Barbaresco wines right now. We’re lucky to pick up a case of the superb 2020 vintage.
