2019 Arinto Branco Vale da Capucha - Lisboa

From Torres Vedras in Lisboa, the 2019 Vale da Capucha Arinto Branco captures Portugal’s cool Atlantic edge beautifully. Its vineyards sit around 9km from the ocean on Kimmeridgian limestone and clay, giving the wine its wonderfully chalky, saline character. Founded in 2009, Vale da Capucha converted to certified organic farming in 2015; the estate now spans 49 hectares following a 36-hectare acquisition in 2017, with over 90% of production exported. Made from 100% Arinto, the 2019 was fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500-litre barrels and aged 22 months on lees. Expect green seaweed, wet stone, citrus and herbal notes. Brilliant with oysters, grilled fish or mature sheep’s cheese.
