Quite easily the best German Pinot Noir (or Spatburgunder) out there. Brothers Christoph and Johannes Thörle now run this 16th century family run winery. They have 19 hectares including three prized grand cru vineyards and are now regarded as one of the best producers in the Rheinhessen. They're ready to take the crown from neighbouring iconic estates such as Keller & Wittmann. The wines evolve and go to new levels each vintage. This wine is the equivalent quality of drinking from a fine Grand cru single vineyard. Probstey in Saulheim is their top vineyard with a 35% slope which producers an elegant yet powerful wine.
