2021 Chianti Classico, Rocca Di Montegrossi

The 2021 Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico comes from the Monti area of Gaiole in Tuscany, where vineyards sit between 340–510 metres on limestone-rich marl and clay soils that give freshness and structure. The estate, run by Marco Ricasoli Firidolfi, spans about 100 hectares with roughly 20 hectares of vines and has been certified organic since 2010. The 2021 vintage is mainly Sangiovese with small amounts of local grapes. It shows aromas of sour cherry, violets and herbs, with bright acidity and fine tannins. Lively and elegant, it pairs beautifully with tomato-based pasta, wild boar ragù, grilled lamb, pizza and aged pecorino cheese.
