The 2021 Le Pergole Torte from Montevertine comes from Radda in Chianti, in Tuscany’s Chianti Classico zone, where high-altitude vineyards and crumbly galestro soils give Sangiovese elegance and freshness. Montevertine, founded in 1967 and still family-run by Martino Manetti, produces this iconic wine only in the best years, from a tiny two-hectare site yielding roughly 25,000–30,000 bottles. The superb 2021 vintage offers lifted aromas of black cherry, violet, woodland herbs and spice, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity. It’s brilliant with wild boar ragù, grilled bistecca alla Fiorentina, or mature Pecorino cheese.
