2022 Saint-Joseph ‘Les Granilites’, M.Chapoutier- Rhone

From Saint-Joseph in the Northern Rhône, Les Granilites 2022 from M. Chapoutier captures the appellation’s granite soul. The estate, founded in 1808, farms more than 350 hectares across the Rhône and champions organic viticulture. Les Granilites is 100% Syrah, sourced from granitic parcels around Mauves, Tournon, Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, Saint-Désirat and Limony. The hot, dry 2022 vintage produced ripe yet fresh fruit. Expect cassis, blackberries, graphite, gentle oak, fine tight tannins and a long, mineral finish. Try it with roast quail and shallots, duck, lamb or mushroom dishes. Serve at 15–17°C. It's a cracking Northern Rhône red for hearty suppers.
