The 2022 Mer et Montagne is a sunny, aromatic blend of Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, and Muscat from the rolling hills of southwest France, where the Mediterranean influence meets the Pyrenean foothills. The terroir here is a real patchwork – limestone, clay, and schist soils all contribute to the wine’s vibrant character and minerality.
Produced by a small, quality-driven co-operative focused on organic practices, Mer et Montagne works with growers who champion low-intervention winemaking and hand-harvested fruit. The 2022 vintage was warm but balanced by cool mountain breezes, preserving freshness in the grapes.
In the glass, this blend is zesty and expressive – think ripe peach, lemon zest, and honeysuckle with a touch of salinity and a crisp, refreshing finish. Muscat adds a floral lift, while Grenache Blanc rounds it out.
Spot on as an aperitif, it also pairs brilliantly with grilled prawns, goat’s cheese salad, or a lemony roast chicken. Summer in a glass!
