2022 Chinon ‘Les Barnables’ Cab Franc, Olga Raffault

From Savigny-en-Véron, where the Loire and Vienne meet, Olga Raffault’s 2022 Les Barnabés is a bright, juicy expression of 100% Cabernet Franc. The domaine, founded in 1947, farms around 24 hectares, with Cabernet Franc at its heart. Barnabés comes from sandy, gravelly alluvial soils, giving freshness and a lighter, wonderfully drinkable style. The warm, dry 2022 vintage delivered ripe fruit and concentration while retaining Cabernet Franc’s trademark freshness. Expect violets, raspberry, blackcurrant and dark berries, with supple tannins and lively acidity. Serve lightly chilled with roast chicken, charcuterie, pork, sausages or tangy goat’s cheese.
