2022 Pouilly-Fuisse ‘La Croix’, Robert Denogent

From Fuissé in Burgundy’s Mâconnais, Robert-Denogent’s 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé ‘La Croix’ is a proper terroir wine, made from 100% Chardonnay grown on rare blue schist and silt over volcano-sedimentary rock. The estate, now run by brothers Nicolas and Antoine, farms around 13 hectares across 30 parcels, with vines averaging roughly 50–75 years old; La Croix comes from particularly old vines, around 79 years, across 2 hectares. The warm 2022 vintage brings generous ripeness balanced by freshness. Expect floral apple, citrus, hazelnut, white pepper and stony minerality, finishing long and saline. Delicious with roast chicken, scallops, lobster or creamy mushroom dishes.
