2024 Solaris, Winbirri - Norfolk

Winbirri’s 2024 Solaris captures Norfolk’s bright, breezy personality in a glass: grown at Surlingham, near the Broads, where sandy, flinty, well-drained soils and a maritime climate help preserve freshness. Founded by fruit farmer Stephen Dyer in 2007, the family estate now spans about 33 acres, with Lee Dyer leading the winemaking. Solaris, a disease-resistant crossing involving Riesling, Pinot Gris and Muscat, suits Norfolk’s cooler conditions beautifully. The 2024 vintage is crisp and dry, showing green apple, lemon, elderflower and subtle mineral notes, with a refreshing finish. Pour it with oysters, grilled fish, goat’s cheese or a zingy summer salad nicely.
