2022 ‘Teatro Cajjo’ Carricante, Centropassi- Sicily

Hailing from the sun-drenched slopes of Mount Etna, the 2022 ‘Teatro Cajjo’ Carricante by Centopassi is a brilliant expression of Sicilian terroir. Grown on volcanic soils rich in minerals, the high-altitude vineyards (over 800m above sea level) lend the wine striking freshness and complexity. Centopassi, the winemaking arm of the anti-Mafia cooperative Libera Terra, farms organically and ethically across land reclaimed from organised crime – over 100 hectares in total.

This vintage of Carricante is crisp and zesty, with aromas of lemon peel, wild herbs, and a faint saline lift. On the palate, think citrus, green apple, and wet stone, all wrapped in mouth-watering acidity. It’s a superb white for seafood – grilled squid, oysters, or a classic linguine alle vongole work a treat.
