The 2022 Passagem Touriga Nacional hails from the Douro Valley, Portugal's premier wine region. Nestled in the Douro Superior near Pocinho, Quinta das Bandeiras spans 100 hectares along the river, opposite the renowned Vale Meão. This estate is a collaboration between the Bergqvist family (owners of Quinta de la Rosa) and winemaker Jorge Moreira of Poeira. The vineyard's schistous soils and steep slopes yield low yields but exceptional quality.
The 2022 vintage was marked by a dry year with temperatures reaching up to 45.5°C, yet the vines' resilience ensured healthy fruit. The wine is a pure expression of Touriga Nacional, fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. It boasts an alcohol content of 14% and is suitable for aging until 2030.
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby in colour, this wine offers aromas of ripe red berries, violets, and subtle bergamot. On the palate, it's smooth with a rich fruit profile and a lingering finish. Its balance of fruit and acidity promises excellent ageing potential.
