The 2023 ‘Jardin du Calvaire’ comes from Domaine Etienne Sauzet, the Puligny-Montrachet estate founded in the 1920s and now run by fourth-generation Emilie Boudot and Benoît Riffault. Their 100% Chardonnay vines sit at a lofty 450 metres near Nolay and Orches, in clay, sand and limestone – classic high-altitude Hautes-Côtes terroir. First made in 2015, this biodynamically farmed cuvée benefits from the warm, abundant 2023 vintage, balancing ripe fruit with freshness. Expect lemon, green apple, white flowers, subtle nuttiness and a wonderfully saline, chiselled finish. Pair it with roast chicken, scallops, grilled fish or creamy mushroom risotto.
