Situated near the historic Pilgrims Way on the North Downs, the estate benefits from shallow, chalky soils and a sheltered aspect, ideal for cultivating aromatic varieties like Ortega. With 6.5 acres of Ortega planted in 2008 and 2021, the estate produces approximately 4 tons per acre, ensuring a balance of sugar and acidity .
Winemaker Adrian Pike, who took over in 2017 after a career in the music industry, brings a creative flair to winemaking.The 2023 Ortega was fermented with a combination of natural and selected yeasts, resulting in a wine that showcases tropical fruit aromas and a herbal, saline finish.
