The 2023 Parva Bacchus by Mountain People is a lively Welsh white that captures the fresh, green spirit of Monmouthshire. Grown on the south-facing slopes of Parva Farm Vineyard, the oldest commercial vineyard in Wales, this Bacchus reflects a unique terroir—cool-climate viticulture with limestone-rich soils and brisk Wye Valley breezes.
The Mountain People project is a fresh label celebrating small-scale, high-elevation growers, with Parva producing just a few thousand bottles annually. The 2023 vintage benefited from a warm, dry late summer, allowing optimal ripening and zippy acidity.
On the nose, expect elderflower, gooseberry and nettle—a classic Bacchus profile with a British twist. The palate is crisp and citrus-led with hints of green apple and a mineral finish. It’s delightfully aromatic without being overpowering.
Perfect with fresh goat’s cheese, grilled asparagus or fish and chips with a twist—think minted mushy peas. A cracking wine for spring garden sipping!
