The 2023 ‘A Little Bit’ Pinot Noir from Westwell Wines is a cracking expression of English terroir, grown on the sun-kissed chalk slopes of Kent’s North Downs. Westwell is a boutique estate known for its hands-on, minimal intervention approach – they farm just under 10 hectares and focus on sustainability and transparency, with everything made onsite.
This vintage benefited from a warm, dry summer, lending ripe red fruit character to the wine. It’s a light-bodied Pinot, bursting with sour cherry, raspberry, and a whisper of spice. There’s a gentle earthiness too – a nod to the chalk and flint soils beneath.
Bright, juicy and slightly wild, it’s a playful yet precise wine with fine tannins and vibrant acidity. It’s perfect slightly chilled and would sing alongside grilled duck, mushroom risotto, or a proper ploughman’s with mature cheddar.
