The 2024 Rioja Blanco, Señorío de Librares is a bright and lively white wine hailing from the heart of Spain’s most celebrated wine region – Rioja. More specifically, it comes from the Rioja Oriental (formerly Rioja Baja), a warmer, drier sub-region where Mediterranean influences and clay-limestone soils bring ripeness and expressive aromatics to the fore. This area is ideal for Viura and Tempranillo Blanco, the grape varieties that make up this cuvée – 75% and 25% respectively. The estate, Señorío de Librares, is a family-run winery led by the Espinosa sisters, Clara and Patricia, who have revitalised their family’s 150-year-old winemaking tradition with a focus on sustainable farming and minimal intervention.

The 2024 vintage delivers freshness and elegance in spades. It pours a pale straw yellow, with greenish glints, and opens with aromas of crisp apple, white peach and a hint of citrus blossom. On the palate, it’s dry and zesty with a clean, mineral backbone, soft fruit, and a subtly saline finish that leaves you wanting another sip. It’s the kind of wine that’s as easy-going as it is food-friendly.

Pair this Rioja Blanco with classic Spanish tapas – think garlic prawns, manchego cheese, or a fresh tortilla. It also shines alongside grilled fish, herby chicken dishes, or light salads with goat’s cheese. Perfect for alfresco lunches, picnics, or simply unwinding on a sunny afternoon. A crisp, charming snapshot of modern white Rioja.
