From Cerignola in northern Puglia, Caiaffa’s 2024 Primitivo is a sunny, organic snapshot of the Tavoliere, where vineyards sit just 4km from the sea on medium-textured, limestone-rich soils shaped by an ancient seabed. Founded in 2003, the family producer farms 45 hectares and bottles organically, encouraging biodiversity rather than using insecticides or pesticides. The 2024 vintage is 100% Primitivo at 14% ABV, with hand-picked grapes spontaneously fermented on their skins for around 20–25 days before ageing in French oak. Expect lifted red and dark fruit, plum, blackberry and sultana, with creamy freshness and gentle spice. Pair with BBQ, rich pasta or chocolate pudding.
