Iliana Malihin’s 2024 Thrapsathiri is a vibrant expression of Melampes in Rethymno, Crete, where vineyards at 560–900 metres benefit from altitude, cooling sea breezes and rocky, mineral-rich soils. Founded in 2019, Malihin focuses on indigenous Cretan varieties, working organically with hand-picked grapes and low-intervention winemaking. Made from 100% Thrapsathiri, the 2024 vintage offers bright aromas of white peach, pear, citrus blossom and wild herbs, followed by preserved lemon, saline minerality and a beautifully textured finish. Fresh yet characterful, it’s a natural partner for grilled octopus, sea bass, lemon-herb chicken, goat’s cheese and classic Cretan meze.
