Bèrto Bitter Liquore Amaro hails from Castelnuovo Don Bosco in Piedmont, between Turin and the Monferrato, a region famed for wine and botanical traditions. Made by fourth-generation Distilleria Quaglia, founded in 1890, it is bottled at 25% ABV and reflects more than 130 years of distilling know-how. There is no vintage: instead, botanicals undergo prolonged infusion, allowing gentian, quassia, white carline thistle, citrus peel and spices to develop depth. Expect a vivid red colour, orange zest, sweet spice and bitter herbal notes, with a smooth, dry, lingering finish. Serve chilled or over ice; pair with dark chocolate or citrus desserts.
