Borgogno, Derthona- Barolo 2018

Borgogno, one of Barolo’s most historic names, brings their pedigree to Derthona, a white wine made from the Timorasso grape in Piedmont’s Colli Tortonesi. This once-forgotten variety is now one of Italy’s most exciting whites—textural, age-worthy and utterly distinctive. Grown on calcareous-clay soils in Tortona, the vines benefit from cool nights and warm days, building complexity and freshness.

The 2018 vintage was cooler and more classical, ideal for Timorasso’s naturally high acidity and structure. Borgogno's Derthona is vinified with minimal intervention and aged on lees in stainless steel, letting the terroir speak. Expect aromas of chamomile, ripe pear, crushed herbs and a flicker of honeyed almond, with a waxy, mineral-rich palate and long, savoury finish.

This wine is built to age but shines now with dishes like grilled turbot, rabbit with herbs, or rich vegetable risottos. Elegant yet rustic—like Piemonte in a glass.
