Clonakilty Port Cask Whiskey

Clonakilty Port Cask Whiskey hails from Clonakilty, County Cork, on Ireland’s south-west coast, where Atlantic air meets the Scully family’s farming heritage. Founded in 2016, Clonakilty Distillery triple-distils and marries Single Pot Still and Single Grain whiskeys, matured in ex-bourbon barrels and ex-Port casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, it is not vintage-dated, but its cask marriage delivers plenty of rich character. Expect apple, peach and vanilla on the nose, followed by cherries, raisins, spice and cardamom, finishing with chocolate. Serve neat or with a splash of water, alongside mature cheddar, smoked duck or sticky toffee pudding.
