La Bota de Grain Whisky Single Cask No.105 is a fascinating Spanish whisky from Equipo Navazos, based in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia. The spirit is made from malted grain, mostly maize, grown and distilled in Castilla la Vieja, then aged for around 16 years, including 12 years in a single cask previously holding old dry Oloroso from a Jerez solera. Bottled in June 2021 at 46% ABV, just 600 bottles were produced. Expect nuts, orange peel, black tea, toasted caramel, dry vanilla and gentle spice, with a silky, savoury, slightly smoky finish. Serve neat or with a splash of water alongside roast pork, mature cheese, or dark chocolate.
