The vineyards sit on the steep, glacial-and-limestone slopes of the Valdobbiadene hills (up to around 500 m elevation) in the province of Treviso. The soils are diverse: shallow chalky, stony soils on the steepest slopes, and deeper fluvio-glacial clay on more moderate terrain. These conditions give the grape (100% Glera) bright freshness and clear minerality. The house of Nino Franco dates back to 1919 and under the current generation it has become a benchmark for quality in the region. They focus on terraced hillside vineyards and low yields to bring out real character.
In this NV Prosecco Superiore you’ll find a lively perlage and in the glass a pale straw-yellow colour. On the nose expect fresh green apple, pear, white blossom and a whisper of brioche (thanks to time on lees). The palate is crisp, lively, with clean acidity, flavours of lemon zest, white peach and a mineral thread that keeps it elegant rather than foamy. The finish is dry (Brut style) and very elegant.
Food-wise: perfect as an aperitif with light nibbles and good friends. For mains try fresh seafood (grilled prawns, oysters), sushi, or delicate white-fish dishes. It also happily partners with soft cheeses, summer salads topped with citrus and herbs, or even a lightly seasoned chicken with lemon & thyme. For dessert? Stay light—perhaps almond biscotti rather than heavy chocolate.
All in all: ready to delight with fizz, finesse and a sense of place.
