Situated in the picturesque vineyards of Alsace, Pépin is a natural‑wine collective born in 2020. It’s spearheaded by Jean & Pierre Dietrich of Domaine Achillée in Scherwiller, along with winemakers and consultants like Xavier Couturier and Pierre Sanchez of Duo Œnologie. They work with local organic growers under strict rules: no synthetic chemicals, manual harvesting, native yeasts, and no or minimal sulphur added.
The terroir for the Riesling component comes largely from granite soils, with ageing in old large wooden barrels. This gives the wine a distinctive minerality and structure.
In the glass, the wine shows a medium intensity yellow, and on the nose you’ll get peaches, apricots, orange blossom, lily, and mild creamy‑caramel tones. Acidity is crisp, balancing the roundness of fruit and a hint of citrus. There’s enough volume and lift to make it both vivid and elegant.
For food pairing, it’s very versatile: think cod in beurre blanc, or a guinea fowl à la Normande; if you want something lighter but still stylish, a lemon tart works beautifully. The acid‑fruit balance is perfect for both seafood and richer poultry.
