Davenport’s 2023 Pinot Noir captures the cool-climate charm of southern England, where Sussex and neighbouring Kent offer chalky, sandy and silty soils, maritime breezes and long, gentle ripening. Founded by Will Davenport in 1991, the organic estate now spans 24 acres across five sites and produces around 40,000 bottles annually. The 2023 vintage was notably fruitful, with sunshine helping grapes ripen beautifully after a wet September. Expect a pale, fragrant style, with wild strawberry, rosehip and cranberry, silky texture, fresh acidity, gentle tannins and a subtle earthy, spicy finish. Serve lightly chilled alongside roast chicken, mushroom dishes, charcuterie or soft cheeses.
